El Naturalista on sale at Zulily!

Spain produces some of our favorite cool comfortable shoes, and El Naturalista is no exception.  Inspired by nature, these shoes are environmentally sustainable, largely made out of recycled materials.  El Naturalista tans its leather with vegetable extracts and ground tree bark.  They use natural pigments and use thread instead of glue as much as possible.  The company donates part of their proceeds to development cooperation and social transformation projects.

Browsing around Nordstrom this week, we instantly fell in love with this pair of riding boots, Cole Haan Air Whitley Buckle Strap Boot, in dark chocolate:

Athleta offers several UGGs we've been eyeing.  The Maylin ($250) offers a nice alternative to the traditional UGGs by featuring the shearling on the outside in a low cuffed design.  For a dressier alternative with a platform and a heel, we love the Lynnea ($200), a clog shearling ankle boot whose taller sister Lillian was featured in an earlier blog post.  The chestnut is a rich color in supple leather.

Another UGG boot we like is the Skylair.  While we love the boot's versatility, comfort, and ease with which it transitions between a casual and dressier look, we don't understand why Athleta is selling this boot for $275 when all other sites that offer it sell it for $250.

Now that it's cold: Shearling boots

Now that it's late fall we've been shopping for some fashionable, casual, heeled shearling boots with riveting detail.  We really like the aesthetics of the LILLIAN from UGG; they get a lot of details right, from the whipstitch detailing to the rivets and convertible strap for cuffing.  These are lovely boots that will be sure to last several years to come.  Available for $325 from just about every retailer imaginable (Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's, Zappos, Saks, even Victoria's Secret).

If the price or the heaviness of the clog sole are a concern, it's worth checking out Nine West's Keego.  It's less than a third of the price, and has many similar traits:  rivet construction, a shaft that cuffs, and shearling accents and lining.  For this price, you do have to make tradeoffs:  the lining is synthetic and the sole is manmade, but the sole is lighter.  Available at Zappos and Endless for $199 (and $169.99 in green at BonTon).

A tropical wedding in November provides the perfect excuse to go shoe shopping.  Since sandals are out of season, selection is tricky, but we're finding some good sales.  One of our favorites is this caged sandal from Michael Kors:

Not only does it look great, it's wonderfully comfortable.  It is available in a variety of colors and patterns, so even if you're not looking for a metallic caged sandal, it's worth checking out.  Rose gold and white are for sale at Endless for $80-98.  Also available in white patent, black satin, purple patent, cocoa snake, gunmetal metallic, black patent, slate, nickel embossed metallic snake, taupe suede, and a special edition version in black satin with rhinestones at Saks Fifth Avenue.
